Michelle Dorne

Dr. Dorne is a Professor of Anthropology at UCCS. Her sub-discipline focus is biological anthropology focusing on human reproductive ecology. Her research incorporates the biology and culture of maternal care, aging and the lifespan, endocrinology, and human relationships, with a longstanding geographic focus on the Philippines.

Dr. Dorne has served on several reappointment, promotion, and tenure (RPT), chaired multiple candidate committees, reviewed candidates for tenure and promotion outside UCCS, and served on the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences Dean’s Review Committee for RPT. As previous department chair of Anthropology, she helped guide faculty through annual reviews, dossier preparation, promotion timelines, and revisions to departmental RPT criteria and expectations. Her approach to faculty advising emphasizes clarity and the fair representation of each faculty member’s work within the review process. She is particularly interested in helping faculty understand institutional expectations, develop dossiers that accurately communicate the scope and significance of their accomplishments, and navigate the tenure and promotion process with greater confidence.
