Distinguished Professor Designation

The title “Distinguished Professor” is the highest rank and honor that the University of Colorado system bestows on its own faculty members. CU distinguished professors demonstrate exemplary performance in research, have a record of excellence in classroom teaching and supervision of individual learning, and demonstrate outstanding leadership and service to the university, the profession and/or the public. To date we’ve had 9 faculty achieve this highest rank and recognition at UCCS, 7 of whom are still actively engaged in our campus today.

  1. Distinguished performance in scholarly/creative work;
  2. Excellence in the promotion of learning and student attainment of knowledge and skills; and
  3. Outstanding leadership and service to the profession and to CU and/or affiliate institutions.

Nomination Window: Nominations are accepted only during the annual nomination cycle. The President’s Office announces the call for nominations early in the fall term; nominations submitted outside this window will not be accepted.
