The Office of Faculty Affairs Mission

Improve the faculty landscape of UCCS today and for the next generation of scholars.

An Ethos of Care Mission

"The Office of Faculty Affairs can help us engage more consciously with issues that have been undervalued and neglected by the academic enterprise for years. By qualifying faculty affairs as a matter of concern and therefore deserving of attention and care, we can improve our workplace culture and create lasting benefits for our campus community."

- Emily Skop, PhD, Interim VPFA

C.A.R.E.

C.A.R.E. Framework

Most actions are low risk but have the potential for high impact.

As the Office of Faculty Affairs continues to grow and evolve, we are pleased to introduce the CARE framework, which reflects our commitment to supporting faculty through four core principles: Connection, Advocacy, Recognition, and Evolution

CARE serves as a guiding foundation for our work, helping foster meaningful relationships, champion faculty success, celebrate achievements, and support professional growth across all stages of an academic career.

  • Connection

The "C" stands for Connection and points to our emphasis in building connections that are beyond transactional and lead faculty to meaningful relationships and a sense of belonging at UCCS.

  • Advocacy

The "A" stands for Advocacy and represents our collective effort to foster transparent and consistent policy interpretation and implementation and ensure collaborative faculty governance.

  • Recognition

The "R" stands for Recognition and speaks to our concerted actions to ensure faculty contributions are visible and valued.

  • Evolution

The "E" stands for Evolution and our focus in supporting faculty in their adaptation, growth, and success through career milestones from recruitment through retirement.
